Ketoconazole (1% w/v)
Active composition
Ketoconazole inhibits ergosterol synthesis, compromising fungal cell membrane integrity and leading to cell lysis.
Medical applications
K2-Zole LD Solution contains Ketoconazole 1% w/v, an imidazole antifungal agent effective against a broad spectrum of dermatophytes, yeasts, and fungi responsible for superficial mycoses. This topical formulation is primarily indicated for the treatment of fungal infections such as seborrheic dermatitis, pityriasis versicolor, and candidiasis of the skin. Ketoconazole exerts its antifungal action by inhibiting the synthesis of ergosterol, an essential component of fungal cell membranes, leading to increased membrane permeability and ultimately fungal cell death. K2-Zole LD Solution is intended for external use only and should be applied to the affected area once or twice daily as directed by a healthcare professional. Prior to application, the skin should be cleaned and dried thoroughly. The solution is generally well tolerated; however, mild local irritation, itching, or redness may occur in some patients. It is contraindicated in individuals with known hypersensitivity to ketoconazole or any of the formulation’s excipients. Caution is advised when using the product on broken or inflamed skin. Avoid contact with eyes and mucous membranes. If irritation persists or worsens, discontinue use and consult a physician. K2-Zole LD Solution should be stored in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight and out of reach of children.
