How It Works
Ezetimibe selectively inhibits the intestinal absorption of cholesterol and related phytosterols by blocking the Niemann-Pick C1-like 1 (NPC1L1) transporter.
Rosuvastatin inhibits HMG-CoA reductase, decreasing cholesterol synthesis in the liver and increasing LDL receptor expression.

Jupiros EZ 10mg/10mg Tablet is a combination lipid-lowering agent containing Rosuvastatin 10mg and Ezetimibe 10mg, indicated for the treatment of hypercholesterolemia and mixed dyslipidemia. Rosuvastatin, a potent HMG-CoA reductase inhibitor, reduces cholesterol synthesis in the liver, leading to decreased levels of low-density lipoprotein cholesterol (LDL-C) and total cholesterol, while modestly increasing high-density lipoprotein cholesterol (HDL-C).

Ezetimibe acts by selectively inhibiting the absorption of cholesterol at the intestinal brush border, further reducing the delivery of intestinal cholesterol to the liver. The synergistic effect of these two agents provides enhanced LDL-C reduction compared to monotherapy, making Jupiros EZ suitable for patients inadequately controlled on diet and monotherapy or those requiring additional lipid lowering.
It is also beneficial in patients with homozygous familial hypercholesterolemia. Jupiros EZ should be used alongside lifestyle modifications, including diet and exercise. Caution is advised in patients with hepatic or renal impairment, and periodic monitoring of liver enzymes and creatine kinase is recommended to detect potential adverse effects such as myopathy or hepatotoxicity.
Contraindications include active liver disease and pregnancy. Adherence to prescribed dosage and medical supervision is essential for optimal therapeutic outcomes.
