Jolvig Oral Solution contains Vigabatrin 500 mg, an antiepileptic agent used primarily for the treatment of refractory complex partial seizures and infantile spasms. Vigabatrin acts by irreversibly inhibiting gamma-aminobutyric acid transaminase (GABA-T), leading to increased levels of the inhibitory neurotransmitter GABA in the brain, thereby reducing neuronal excitability and seizure activity.

Jolvig is indicated for patients who have not responded adequately to other antiepileptic medications. The oral solution formulation facilitates accurate dosing, particularly in pediatric populations or patients with swallowing difficulties. Dosage should be individualized based on clinical response and tolerability, with careful monitoring for potential adverse effects. Common side effects include somnolence, dizziness, headache, and fatigue.
A serious but rare adverse effect is irreversible visual field defects; therefore, regular ophthalmologic examinations are recommended before initiation and periodically during treatment. Jolvig Oral Solution should be used under strict medical supervision, considering the risk-benefit ratio in each patient. It is contraindicated in patients with hypersensitivity to Vigabatrin or any excipients.
Caution is advised in patients with renal impairment. Jolvig Oral Solution should be stored as per manufacturer’s instructions and kept out of reach of children.
