Iron Isomaltoside is a stable complex of iron and isomaltoside, designed to deliver controlled and rapid iron replenishment directly into the bloodstream. This formulation allows for high-dose intravenous administration with a low risk of free iron release, minimizing oxidative stress and hypersensitivity reactions.

Jilazo is particularly useful in patients with chronic kidney disease, inflammatory bowel disease, or other conditions associated with impaired iron absorption or increased iron requirements. The solution is administered by intravenous infusion or slow injection under medical supervision, with dosing individualized based on the patient’s iron deficit, hemoglobin levels, and body weight.
Clinical studies have demonstrated its efficacy in improving hemoglobin levels and replenishing iron stores efficiently, leading to symptomatic relief of anemia-related fatigue and improved quality of life. Common adverse effects may include transient hypotension, nausea, or injection site reactions, which are generally mild and self-limiting.
