Active composition
Rosuvastatin inhibits HMG-CoA reductase, decreasing cholesterol synthesis in the liver and increasing LDL receptor expression.
Medical applications
Jekroz 20 Tablet contains Rosuvastatin 20 mg, a potent lipid-lowering agent belonging to the statin class of medications. It is primarily indicated for the treatment of hypercholesterolemia and mixed dyslipidemia to reduce elevated levels of total cholesterol, low-density lipoprotein cholesterol (LDL-C), and triglycerides, while increasing high-density lipoprotein cholesterol (HDL-C).
Rosuvastatin acts by selectively inhibiting HMG-CoA reductase, the rate-limiting enzyme in cholesterol biosynthesis, thereby decreasing cholesterol production in the liver and enhancing the clearance of LDL from the bloodstream. Jekroz 20 Tablet is prescribed as part of a comprehensive treatment plan including diet, exercise, and lifestyle modifications to reduce the risk of cardiovascular events such as myocardial infarction, stroke, and angina in patients with atherosclerotic cardiovascular disease or those at high risk.
The recommended dosage should be individualized based on patient response and tolerability, with regular monitoring of lipid levels and liver function tests advised during therapy. Common adverse effects may include headache, myalgia, and gastrointestinal disturbances. Caution is warranted in patients with hepatic impairment or a history of muscle disorders. Jekroz 20 Tablet should be used under medical supervision to ensure optimal efficacy and safety.
