IZ K Lotion is a topical antifungal and antibacterial formulation containing Ketoconazole 2% w/v and Zinc Pyrithione 1% w/v, indicated for the treatment of various dermatological conditions such as seborrheic dermatitis, dandruff, pityriasis versicolor, and other superficial fungal infections. Ketoconazole, a broad-spectrum imidazole antifungal agent, acts by inhibiting the synthesis of ergosterol, an essential component of fungal cell membranes, thereby disrupting fungal growth and replication. Zinc Pyrithione exhibits antibacterial and antifungal properties by interfering with membrane transport and cellular metabolism of microorganisms, enhancing the therapeutic efficacy of the combination. IZ K Lotion is applied topically to the affected area once or twice daily, depending on the severity of the condition, and should be used consistently for the prescribed duration to achieve optimal results. It is generally well tolerated; however, mild local irritation, itching, or redness may occur in some patients. Contraindications include hypersensitivity to any component of the formulation.
