Itraconazole acts by inhibiting the synthesis of ergosterol, an essential component of fungal cell membranes, thereby disrupting membrane integrity and leading to fungal cell death. It is indicated for the management of systemic and superficial mycoses, including blastomycosis, histoplasmosis, aspergillosis, onychomycosis, and other dermatophytic infections.

Itratrust 100 Capsule is administered orally and exhibits good bioavailability, with enhanced absorption when taken with food. The drug undergoes extensive hepatic metabolism primarily via the cytochrome P450 3A4 enzyme system, necessitating caution when co-administered with other medications metabolized by this pathway due to potential drug interactions. Common adverse effects include gastrointestinal disturbances such as nausea, vomiting, and abdominal pain, as well as headache and dizziness.
Liver function monitoring is recommended during prolonged therapy to detect hepatotoxicity.
