Iron Isomaltoside (100mg/ml)
Active composition
Iron Isomaltoside releases iron ions, which are incorporated into hemoglobin, enhancing oxygen transport and correcting anaemia.
Medical applications
Isofer Injection contains Iron Isomaltoside 100mg/ml, a parenteral iron preparation indicated for the treatment of iron deficiency anemia when oral iron therapy is ineffective or cannot be used. Iron Isomaltoside is a stable complex of iron and isomaltoside that allows controlled release of bioavailable iron, minimizing the risk of free iron toxicity. This injectable formulation is suitable for rapid replenishment of iron stores in patients with chronic kidney disease, inflammatory bowel disease, or other conditions associated with iron deficiency. Isofer Injection is administered intravenously or via slow infusion, with dosage individualized according to the patient’s iron deficit and clinical response. The product offers the advantage of high-dose administration in a single session, improving patient compliance and reducing the need for multiple hospital visits. Common adverse reactions may include transient hypersensitivity reactions, headache, nausea, and injection site discomfort. Caution is advised in patients with known hypersensitivity to iron products or active infections. Monitoring of iron parameters and clinical status is recommended during therapy to avoid iron overload. Isofer Injection should be used under medical supervision with appropriate resuscitation facilities available. It is contraindicated in patients with iron overload syndromes or anemia not due to iron deficiency.
