Iondan Injection contains Ondansetron 2 mg/ml, a selective 5-HT3 receptor antagonist indicated for the prevention and treatment of nausea and vomiting associated with chemotherapy, radiotherapy, and postoperative conditions. Ondansetron acts by blocking serotonin receptors centrally in the chemoreceptor trigger zone and peripherally in the gastrointestinal tract, thereby inhibiting the emetic signals. Iondan Injection is administered intravenously or intramuscularly, providing rapid onset of action and effective control of acute emesis. The dosage and duration of treatment should be individualized based on the patient’s clinical condition, type of emetogenic therapy, and response to treatment. Commonly, a single dose is administered prior to chemotherapy or surgery, with additional doses as required. Iondan Injection is generally well tolerated; however, potential adverse effects include headache, constipation, dizziness, and transient elevations in liver enzymes. Caution is advised in patients with hepatic impairment, electrolyte imbalances, or cardiac conduction abnormalities, as Ondansetron may prolong the QT interval. It is contraindicated in patients with known hypersensitivity to Ondansetron or other components of the formulation.
