Rabeprazole, a proton pump inhibitor, suppresses gastric acid secretion by irreversibly inhibiting the H+/K+ ATPase enzyme system in the gastric parietal cells, providing symptomatic relief in acid-related conditions. The sustained-release (SR) formulation ensures prolonged therapeutic plasma concentrations, improving patient compliance and efficacy. Introcid-D Capsule SR is indicated for the treatment of gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD), functional dyspepsia, peptic ulcer disease, and other acid-peptic disorders where both acid suppression and prokinetic action are beneficial.
It is contraindicated in patients with known hypersensitivity to either component, and caution is advised in those with cardiac arrhythmias or prolactinoma due to Domperidone’s potential side effects. Common adverse effects may include headache, dry mouth, and gastrointestinal disturbances.
