Pantoprazole, a proton pump inhibitor (PPI), suppresses gastric acid secretion by irreversibly inhibiting the H+/K+ ATPase enzyme system in the gastric parietal cells, providing effective relief from acid-related conditions such as gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD), erosive esophagitis, and peptic ulcers.
