Imidiaz 10 Tablet is a combination pharmaceutical formulation containing Imipramine 25 mg and Chlordiazepoxide 10 mg, indicated primarily for the management of anxiety associated with depression and related disorders. Imipramine, a tricyclic antidepressant, exerts its therapeutic effect by inhibiting the reuptake of norepinephrine and serotonin, thereby enhancing neurotransmitter activity in the central nervous system to alleviate depressive symptoms. Chlordiazepoxide, a benzodiazepine derivative, provides anxiolytic, sedative, and muscle-relaxant properties through potentiation of gamma-aminobutyric acid (GABA) neurotransmission, which helps in reducing anxiety and agitation. The combination is particularly beneficial in patients presenting with mixed anxiety-depressive states, where both mood elevation and anxiety reduction are desired. Imidiaz 10 Tablet should be administered under medical supervision, with dosage individualized based on clinical response and tolerability. Caution is advised in patients with a history of substance abuse, hepatic or renal impairment, and in the elderly due to increased sensitivity to benzodiazepines. Common adverse effects may include drowsiness, dry mouth, dizziness, and gastrointestinal disturbances. Abrupt discontinuation should be avoided to prevent withdrawal symptoms. This medication is contraindicated in patients with hypersensitivity to its components and should not be combined with monoamine oxidase inhibitors.
