The dosage and administration should be individualized based on the patient’s iron requirements, hemoglobin concentration, and response to therapy. It is typically administered by slow intravenous injection or infusion under strict medical supervision to monitor for hypersensitivity reactions. Common adverse effects may include transient hypotension, nausea, injection site reactions, and dizziness.
Caution is advised in patients with known hypersensitivity to iron sucrose or other parenteral iron products.
