Icos 1G Capsule contains Icosapent ethyl 1000 mg, a highly purified ethyl ester of eicosapentaenoic acid (EPA), an omega-3 fatty acid primarily used as an adjunct to diet for reducing triglyceride levels in adult patients with severe hypertriglyceridemia (≥500 mg/dL). Icosapent ethyl acts by reducing hepatic triglyceride synthesis and enhancing triglyceride clearance from circulating very low-density lipoproteins (VLDL). This mechanism contributes to lowering serum triglyceride concentrations, thereby potentially reducing the risk of pancreatitis associated with elevated triglycerides.
