Clidinium is an anticholinergic agent that exerts antispasmodic effects on the smooth muscles of the gastrointestinal tract, decreasing motility and secretion, which contributes to relief from abdominal cramps and diarrhea. The synergistic action of these two components provides symptomatic relief by addressing both the psychological and physical aspects of IBS. IBS Tablet is indicated for short-term use under medical supervision, as prolonged use of benzodiazepines may lead to dependence.
It should be used cautiously in patients with glaucoma, myasthenia gravis, or obstructive gastrointestinal conditions. Common side effects include dry mouth, drowsiness, dizziness, and blurred vision. Patients should avoid alcohol and activities requiring mental alertness while taking this medication.
