I-Tyza 200 Capsule contains Itraconazole 200 mg, a broad-spectrum antifungal agent belonging to the triazole class. It is indicated for the treatment of various systemic and superficial fungal infections caused by susceptible strains of fungi, including aspergillosis, blastomycosis, histoplasmosis, and onychomycosis. Itraconazole exerts its antifungal effect by inhibiting the cytochrome P450-dependent enzyme lanosterol 14-α-demethylase, which is essential for the conversion of lanosterol to ergosterol, a critical component of fungal cell membranes. Disruption of ergosterol synthesis results in increased membrane permeability and ultimately fungal cell death. I-Tyza 200 Capsule is administered orally and should be taken with food to enhance absorption. The dosage and duration of therapy depend on the type and severity of infection, as well as patient response. Common adverse effects may include gastrointestinal disturbances such as nausea, vomiting, and abdominal pain, as well as headache and elevated liver enzymes. Caution is advised in patients with hepatic impairment or congestive heart failure. Itraconazole has potential drug interactions due to its effect on cytochrome P450 enzymes; therefore, concomitant use with certain medications should be avoided or closely monitored. Regular liver function tests are recommended during prolonged therapy.
