Hydroxyzine (10mg)
Active composition
Hydroxyzine antagonizes H1 histamine receptors, reducing the effects of histamine in allergic responses and decreasing central nervous system activity.
Medical applications
Hyziskin Syrup contains Hydroxyzine 10mg, an antihistamine with anxiolytic, sedative, and antiemetic properties. It is primarily indicated for the symptomatic relief of anxiety and tension associated with psychoneurosis and as an adjunct in organic disease states in which anxiety is manifested. Additionally, Hyziskin Syrup is effective in the management of pruritus due to allergic conditions such as chronic urticaria, atopic and contact dermatoses. Hydroxyzine acts by competitively inhibiting H1 histamine receptors, thereby reducing the effects of histamine in the body. The syrup formulation allows for easy administration, particularly in pediatric and geriatric populations where swallowing tablets may be difficult. Dosage should be individualized based on the patient’s condition, age, and response to treatment, and it is generally administered two to four times daily. Caution is advised in patients with a history of QT prolongation, cardiac arrhythmias, or those taking other CNS depressants due to potential additive sedative effects. Common side effects include drowsiness, dry mouth, and headache. Hyziskin Syrup should be used under medical supervision, and patients are advised to avoid alcohol and operating heavy machinery while on this medication.
