Sodium Hyaluronate (0.18% w/v)
Active composition
Sodium Hyaluronate acts as a viscoelastic agent, restoring the viscosity and elasticity of synovial fluid, thereby reducing friction and pain in the joint.
Medical applications
Hysodew Gel contains Sodium Hyaluronate 0.18% w/v, a viscoelastic agent used primarily as a tear substitute for the management of dry eye syndrome. Sodium Hyaluronate is a naturally occurring glycosaminoglycan with excellent water-retaining and lubricating properties, making it effective in restoring moisture to the ocular surface and providing symptomatic relief from irritation, burning, and discomfort associated with dry eyes. Hysodew Gel is indicated for patients experiencing keratoconjunctivitis sicca, including cases related to environmental factors, prolonged screen exposure, or post-surgical dryness. The gel formulation ensures prolonged retention time on the corneal and conjunctival epithelium, enhancing hydration and promoting epithelial healing. It is preservative-free, minimizing the risk of ocular surface toxicity or hypersensitivity reactions, and is suitable for frequent use, including in contact lens wearers. Administration involves instillation of one or two drops into the affected eye(s) as needed, with dosage adjusted according to symptom severity. Hysodew Gel is contraindicated in patients with known hypersensitivity to any of its components. Adverse effects are rare but may include transient blurred vision or mild ocular discomfort upon instillation. This product should be used under medical supervision to ensure appropriate management of dry eye conditions.
