The extended-release formulation of Hitap-ER 50 ensures sustained plasma concentrations, providing prolonged pain relief and improving patient compliance by reducing dosing frequency. It is particularly useful in conditions such as neuropathic pain, musculoskeletal disorders, and postoperative pain requiring continuous analgesia. Caution is advised in patients with respiratory depression, severe asthma, or known hypersensitivity to Tapentadol.
Common adverse effects include nausea, dizziness, constipation, and somnolence, which generally diminish with continued use. Due to its opioid nature, there is a risk of dependence, tolerance, and withdrawal symptoms; therefore, it should be prescribed and monitored carefully, especially in patients with a history of substance abuse. Dose adjustments may be necessary in renal or hepatic impairment.
Hitap-ER 50 should not be combined with monoamine oxidase inhibitors or other CNS depressants without medical supervision. It is essential to follow prescribed dosing and avoid abrupt discontinuation to minimize adverse effects.
