Hicope Syrup contains Hydroxyzine 10mg per 5ml and is an antihistaminic agent primarily used for the management of allergic conditions and anxiety-related symptoms. Hydroxyzine acts as a potent H1 receptor antagonist, effectively reducing the effects of histamine in allergic reactions such as urticaria, pruritus, and rhinitis. Additionally, it possesses anxiolytic and sedative properties, making it beneficial in the symptomatic treatment of anxiety and tension associated with psychoneurosis. Hicope Syrup is also indicated as a premedication to induce sedation and reduce anxiety before surgical procedures. The syrup formulation facilitates ease of administration, particularly in pediatric and geriatric populations who may have difficulty swallowing tablets. The onset of action typically occurs within 15 to 30 minutes, with effects lasting up to 6 hours. Common adverse effects include drowsiness, dry mouth, and dizziness; therefore, caution is advised when performing tasks requiring mental alertness.
