Hexil Mouth Wash contains Chlorhexidine Gluconate 0.2% w/v, a broad-spectrum antimicrobial agent effective in reducing oral bacteria and preventing plaque formation. It is indicated for the management of gingivitis, periodontitis, and as an adjunct in oral hygiene to control bacterial colonization in the oral cavity. Chlorhexidine acts by disrupting the cell membrane of susceptible microorganisms, leading to cell death, thereby reducing the microbial load and inflammation of the gingival tissues. Hexil Mouth Wash is recommended for short-term use, typically following dental procedures or in cases where mechanical plaque control is inadequate. It is not intended for ingestion and should be used as directed, usually twice daily after brushing. Patients should avoid eating or drinking for at least 30 minutes after rinsing to maximize efficacy. Common side effects may include temporary alteration in taste sensation, staining of teeth and tongue, and mild mucosal irritation.
