Heptozid Syrup is a combination pharmaceutical formulation containing Cyproheptadine hydrochloride (2mg/5ml), Tricholine Citrate (275mg/5ml), and Sorbitol (2gm/5ml). Cyproheptadine is an antihistamine with antiserotonergic properties, primarily used to alleviate allergic conditions such as rhinitis, urticaria, and pruritus by blocking H1 histamine receptors. It also exhibits appetite-stimulating effects, making it beneficial in cases of anorexia or weight loss associated with chronic illnesses. Tricholine Citrate acts as a choleretic and lipotropic agent, promoting bile secretion and facilitating lipid metabolism, thereby aiding in the management of hepatic insufficiency and fatty liver conditions. Sorbitol serves as a sweetening agent and osmotic laxative, enhancing palatability and gastrointestinal motility. Heptozid Syrup is indicated for symptomatic relief in allergic disorders, appetite stimulation, and supportive therapy in hepatic dysfunction.
