Hepexa 300 Tablet contains Ursodeoxycholic Acid 300 mg, a hydrophilic bile acid used primarily for the treatment of various hepatobiliary disorders. Ursodeoxycholic Acid acts by reducing the cholesterol content of bile and bile stones, thereby promoting the dissolution of cholesterol gallstones in patients with functioning gallbladders. Additionally, it exerts cytoprotective effects on hepatocytes by stabilizing cell membranes and reducing bile acid-induced apoptosis, making it effective in the management of primary biliary cholangitis (PBC) and other cholestatic liver diseases.

Hepexa 300 is indicated for the treatment of primary biliary cirrhosis, intrahepatic cholestasis, and non-alcoholic fatty liver disease, where it improves liver enzyme levels and delays disease progression. The drug is generally well tolerated; common side effects may include diarrhea, abdominal discomfort, and rarely, allergic reactions. Dosage should be individualized based on the patient’s condition and response to therapy, with regular monitoring of liver function tests recommended during treatment.
Hepexa 300 should be used cautiously in patients with biliary obstruction or advanced liver disease. It is contraindicated in patients with hypersensitivity to Ursodeoxycholic Acid or its components.
