Salicylic Acid promotes keratinocyte turnover and reduces inflammation, leading to improved skin texture and reduced acne lesions.
Medical applications
Halox S Ointment is a topical formulation containing Halobetasol propionate (0.05% w/w), a potent corticosteroid, combined with Salicylic Acid (3% w/w), a keratolytic agent. This combination is indicated for the treatment of inflammatory and hyperkeratotic skin conditions such as psoriasis, eczema, and dermatitis. Halobetasol exerts strong anti-inflammatory, antipruritic, and vasoconstrictive effects by modulating the immune response and reducing the release of inflammatory mediators, thereby alleviating redness, swelling, and itching. Salicylic Acid facilitates the removal of scales and promotes the penetration of Halobetasol into the affected skin by softening and loosening the stratum corneum. Halox S Ointment is intended for topical use only and should be applied in a thin layer to the affected areas once or twice daily as directed by a healthcare professional. Prolonged use or application over large body surfaces should be avoided to minimize the risk of systemic corticosteroid absorption and associated adverse effects. Use with caution in patients with infections or hypersensitivity to any of the components. It is contraindicated in viral, bacterial, or fungal skin infections unless appropriate antimicrobial therapy is concurrently administered. Pregnant or lactating women should consult a physician prior to use.
