This combination is indicated for the treatment of inflammatory and hyperkeratotic skin conditions such as psoriasis, eczema, and dermatitis, where both anti-inflammatory and exfoliative actions are required. Halobetasol exerts strong anti-inflammatory, antipruritic, and vasoconstrictive effects by modulating the release of inflammatory mediators and suppressing immune responses in the skin. Salicylic Acid facilitates the removal of scales and hyperkeratotic debris by softening and promoting desquamation of the stratum corneum, enhancing the penetration and efficacy of the corticosteroid. Halovate-S Lotion is typically applied once or twice daily to the affected areas, avoiding contact with eyes, mucous membranes, and broken skin. Treatment duration should be limited to minimize potential adverse effects such as skin atrophy, telangiectasia, or systemic corticosteroid absorption. Caution is advised in patients with hypersensitivity to any components, and it is contraindicated in viral, bacterial, or fungal skin infections unless appropriate antimicrobial therapy is concurrently administered.
