Halobetasol (0.05% w/w)
Active composition
Halobetasol inhibits the release of pro-inflammatory mediators, reducing inflammation and immune response in the skin.
Medical applications
Halovate Ointment contains Halobetasol 0.05% w/w, a potent topical corticosteroid indicated for the treatment of inflammatory and pruritic manifestations of corticosteroid-responsive dermatoses. Halobetasol exerts anti-inflammatory, antipruritic, and vasoconstrictive effects by modulating the release of inflammatory mediators and suppressing immune responses in the skin. This ointment is primarily used in conditions such as psoriasis, eczema, dermatitis, and lichen planus, where rapid symptomatic relief is desired. Halovate Ointment should be applied sparingly to the affected area once or twice daily, as directed by a healthcare professional, and treatment duration should generally not exceed two consecutive weeks to minimize the risk of adverse effects. Prolonged use or occlusive dressings may increase systemic absorption and the potential for corticosteroid-related side effects, including skin atrophy, telangiectasia, and hypothalamic-pituitary-adrenal (HPA) axis suppression. It is contraindicated in patients with hypersensitivity to halobetasol or any ointment excipients, and caution is advised in infections or skin conditions caused by bacteria, fungi, or viruses. Pregnant or breastfeeding women should use the product only if clearly needed and under medical supervision. Patients are advised to avoid contact with eyes and mucous membranes and to discontinue use if irritation or sensitization occurs.
How to use Halovate Ointment This medicine is for external use only. Use it in the dose and duration as advised by your doctor. Check the label for directions before use. Clean and dry the affected area and gently massage the ointment.
