Halotop-S Lotion is a topical dermatological formulation containing Halobetasol propionate 0.05% w/v, a potent corticosteroid, combined with Salicylic Acid 3% w/v, a keratolytic agent. This combination is indicated for the treatment of various inflammatory and hyperkeratotic skin conditions such as psoriasis, eczema, and lichen planus. Halobetasol exerts strong anti-inflammatory, antipruritic, and vasoconstrictive effects by modulating the release of inflammatory mediators and suppressing immune responses in the skin. Salicylic Acid facilitates exfoliation by promoting the shedding of the stratum corneum, thereby enhancing the penetration and efficacy of the corticosteroid. Halotop-S Lotion is applied topically to the affected area once or twice daily, as directed by a healthcare professional, ensuring the skin is clean and dry prior to application. Use should be limited to short-term therapy to minimize potential adverse effects such as skin atrophy, telangiectasia, or systemic corticosteroid absorption. It is contraindicated in patients with hypersensitivity to any component, untreated bacterial, viral, or fungal skin infections.
