Halobetasol (0.05% w/w)
Active composition
Halobetasol inhibits the release of pro-inflammatory mediators, reducing inflammation and immune response in the skin.
Medical applications
Halotop Cream contains Halobetasol 0.05% w/w, a potent topical corticosteroid indicated for the treatment of inflammatory and pruritic manifestations of corticosteroid-responsive dermatoses. The active ingredient, Halobetasol, exerts anti-inflammatory, antipruritic, and vasoconstrictive effects by modulating the release of inflammatory mediators and suppressing immune responses in the skin. Halotop Cream is primarily used in conditions such as psoriasis, eczema, dermatitis, and lichen planus, providing rapid relief from redness, swelling, and itching. It is intended for short-term use due to its high potency, and should be applied sparingly to the affected area once or twice daily as directed by a healthcare professional. Prolonged or excessive use may lead to adverse effects including skin atrophy, telangiectasia, and potential systemic absorption causing hypothalamic-pituitary-adrenal (HPA) axis suppression. Halotop Cream is contraindicated in patients with hypersensitivity to Halobetasol or any component of the formulation, and should not be used on infected skin lesions unless appropriate antimicrobial therapy is concurrently administered. Caution is advised when applying to large surface areas or under occlusive dressings. Patients should avoid contact with eyes and mucous membranes. Discontinuation of therapy should be gradual to prevent rebound effects.
How to use Halotop Cream This medicine is for external use only. Use it in the dose and duration as advised by your doctor. Check the label for directions before use. Clean and dry the affected area and apply the cream. Wash your hands after applying, unless hands are the affected area.
