Halosys-S Ointment is a topical formulation containing Halobetasol propionate (0.05% w/w), a potent corticosteroid, combined with Salicylic Acid (3% w/w), a keratolytic agent. This combination is indicated for the management of various inflammatory and hyperkeratotic dermatoses, including psoriasis, eczema, and lichen planus. Halobetasol exerts strong anti-inflammatory, antipruritic, and vasoconstrictive effects by modulating the immune response and inhibiting the release of inflammatory mediators, thereby reducing redness, swelling, and itching. Salicylic Acid facilitates the removal of scales and promotes desquamation by softening and loosening keratin, enhancing the penetration and efficacy of the corticosteroid. Halosys-S Ointment is intended for topical use on affected skin areas and should be applied sparingly once or twice daily as directed by a healthcare professional. Prolonged use or application over large body surface areas should be avoided to minimize the risk of systemic absorption and corticosteroid-related adverse effects such as skin atrophy, telangiectasia, and hypothalamic-pituitary-adrenal axis suppression. It is contraindicated in patients with hypersensitivity to any component, viral or fungal skin infections, and should be used cautiously in pediatric and elderly populations.
