Halostrol S 6% Ointment is a topical formulation combining Halobetasol propionate 0.05% w/w, a potent corticosteroid, with Salicylic Acid 6% w/w, a keratolytic agent. This combination is indicated for the management of various inflammatory and hyperkeratotic dermatoses, including psoriasis, eczema, and lichen planus. Halobetasol exerts strong anti-inflammatory, antipruritic, and vasoconstrictive effects by modulating the release of inflammatory mediators and suppressing immune responses in the skin. Salicylic Acid facilitates the removal of scales and plaques by softening and exfoliating the stratum corneum, enhancing the penetration and efficacy of the corticosteroid. Halostrol S 6% Ointment is applied topically to the affected areas once or twice daily as directed by a healthcare professional. Caution is advised to avoid use on infected or broken skin, and prolonged application should be avoided to minimize the risk of adverse effects such as skin atrophy, telangiectasia, and systemic corticosteroid absorption.
