Halofast S Ointment is a topical formulation containing Halobetasol propionate 0.05% w/w, a potent corticosteroid, combined with Salicylic Acid 6% w/w, a keratolytic agent. This combination is indicated for the treatment of various inflammatory and hyperkeratotic dermatoses such as psoriasis, eczema, and lichen planus. Halobetasol exerts strong anti-inflammatory, antipruritic, and vasoconstrictive effects by modulating the release of inflammatory mediators and suppressing immune responses in the skin. Salicylic Acid facilitates the removal of scales and promotes the penetration of Halobetasol by softening and exfoliating the stratum corneum. Halofast S Ointment should be applied sparingly to the affected areas once or twice daily, as directed by a healthcare professional, and treatment duration should be limited to minimize the risk of adverse effects such as skin atrophy, telangiectasia, and systemic corticosteroid absorption. It is contraindicated in patients with hypersensitivity to any component, untreated skin infections, or viral skin conditions such as herpes simplex.
