Gutpraz 20V Tablet contains Rabeprazole 20mg, a proton pump inhibitor (PPI) indicated for the treatment of acid-related gastrointestinal conditions. Rabeprazole acts by selectively inhibiting the H+/K+ ATPase enzyme system at the secretory surface of gastric parietal cells, thereby suppressing gastric acid secretion. This medication is commonly prescribed for the management of gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD), erosive esophagitis, Zollinger-Ellison syndrome, and peptic ulcer disease.

Gutpraz 20V is effective in promoting ulcer healing, relieving symptoms such as heartburn and acid regurgitation, and preventing the recurrence of ulcers. It is also used in combination therapy for the eradication of Helicobacter pylori infection. The onset of action typically occurs within one hour, with a duration of acid suppression lasting up to 24 hours, allowing for once-daily dosing.
Rabeprazole is generally well tolerated; common adverse effects may include headache, diarrhea, nausea, and abdominal pain. Long-term use requires monitoring due to potential risks such as vitamin B12 deficiency, hypomagnesemia, and increased susceptibility to gastrointestinal infections.
