Gris ODT Tablet contains Terbinafine 250 mg, an antifungal agent primarily indicated for the treatment of dermatophytic infections such as tinea corporis, tinea cruris, tinea pedis, and onychomycosis caused by susceptible fungi. Terbinafine belongs to the allylamine class and exerts its antifungal effect by inhibiting the enzyme squalene epoxidase, leading to a deficiency in ergosterol, an essential component of fungal cell membranes, thereby disrupting cell membrane synthesis and resulting in fungal cell death. The orally disintegrating tablet (ODT) formulation enhances patient compliance by allowing rapid disintegration in the oral cavity without the need for water, facilitating ease of administration, especially in patients with swallowing difficulties. Gris ODT is typically administered once daily, with treatment duration varying depending on the infection type and severity, often ranging from 2 to 12 weeks. It is important to adhere to the prescribed course to ensure complete eradication of the infection and to minimize the risk of resistance development. Common adverse effects may include gastrointestinal disturbances, headache, and rash; rare but serious hepatotoxicity requires monitoring of liver function during prolonged therapy.
