Pantoprazole, a proton pump inhibitor (PPI), suppresses gastric acid secretion by inhibiting the H+/K+ ATPase enzyme system in the gastric parietal cells, providing symptomatic relief in conditions like gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD), erosive esophagitis, and peptic ulcer disease.
