Additionally, Glugon may be employed as a diagnostic aid in radiology to relax smooth muscles of the gastrointestinal tract. The recommended dose for adults and children over 25 kg is 1 mg administered via intramuscular, subcutaneous, or intravenous injection, with the intravenous route preferred for rapid effect. In cases of hypoglycemia, if the patient does not respond within 15 minutes, a second dose may be administered.
It is essential to follow up with oral carbohydrate intake once the patient regains consciousness to replenish glycogen stores.
