Gastroprazole 20 Capsule contains Omeprazole 20 mg, a proton pump inhibitor (PPI) used to reduce gastric acid secretion in the treatment of various gastrointestinal conditions. Omeprazole acts by selectively inhibiting the H+/K+ ATPase enzyme system located on the gastric parietal cells, thereby suppressing the final step of acid production. Gastroprazole 20 is indicated for the management of gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD), erosive esophagitis, Zollinger-Ellison syndrome, and peptic ulcer disease, including ulcers associated with Helicobacter pylori infection when used in combination with appropriate antibiotics.

It is also effective in preventing gastric ulcers induced by nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs). The recommended dosage is typically one 20 mg capsule once daily, taken before meals, but may be adjusted based on clinical response and specific patient needs. Gastroprazole is generally well tolerated; however, potential side effects include headache, abdominal pain, nausea, diarrhea, and rare hypersensitivity reactions.
Long-term use should be monitored due to possible risks such as vitamin B12 deficiency, hypomagnesemia, and increased susceptibility to gastrointestinal infections.
