Desloratadine, a selective non-sedating antihistamine, effectively alleviates allergic manifestations including rhinorrhea, sneezing, and nasal congestion by blocking peripheral histamine H1 receptors. Montelukast, a leukotriene receptor antagonist, inhibits leukotriene-mediated bronchoconstriction and inflammation, thereby reducing airway hyperresponsiveness and improving respiratory function.
The sustained-release (SR) formulation ensures prolonged therapeutic plasma concentrations, enhancing patient compliance by reducing dosing frequency. Garnifit-DM is indicated for the symptomatic treatment and prophylaxis of chronic asthma, allergic rhinitis, and other related respiratory disorders where a combination of bronchodilation, anti-allergic, and anti-inflammatory effects is warranted.
It should be used under medical supervision, considering contraindications such as hypersensitivity to any component and caution in patients with hepatic impairment. Adverse effects are generally mild but may include headache, gastrointestinal disturbances, and dizziness.
