Fingomod Capsule contains Fingolimod 0.5mg, an immunomodulatory agent primarily used in the treatment of relapsing forms of multiple sclerosis (MS). Fingolimod works by modulating sphingosine-1-phosphate receptors, which results in the sequestration of lymphocytes in lymph nodes, preventing them from migrating into the central nervous system and thereby reducing inflammatory damage to nerve cells.

This mechanism helps to decrease the frequency of MS relapses and slows the progression of physical disability associated with the disease. Fingomod is typically prescribed for adult patients with relapsing-remitting MS and is administered orally once daily. Before starting treatment, patients should undergo cardiac evaluation due to the risk of bradycardia and other cardiac effects, especially after the first dose.
Regular monitoring of liver function, blood pressure, and eye health is recommended during therapy. Common side effects may include headache, flu-like symptoms, diarrhea, and elevated liver enzymes. Fingomod should be used with caution in patients with pre-existing heart conditions, infections, or macular edema. It is contraindicated during pregnancy due to potential teratogenic effects.
