Ezewin 10mg Tablet contains Ezetimibe, a lipid-lowering agent used to reduce elevated total cholesterol, low-density lipoprotein cholesterol (LDL-C), and triglycerides in the blood. It works by selectively inhibiting the absorption of cholesterol at the small intestine brush border, leading to decreased delivery of intestinal cholesterol to the liver. This action results in a reduction of hepatic cholesterol stores and an increase in clearance of cholesterol from the blood.

Ezewin is commonly prescribed for patients with hypercholesterolemia, including those with primary hyperlipidemia or mixed dyslipidemia, and is often used in combination with statins when diet and exercise alone are insufficient to control cholesterol levels. It may also be used in patients with homozygous familial hypercholesterolemia. The recommended dose is 10mg once daily, with or without food.
Patients should continue to follow a cholesterol-lowering diet and lifestyle modifications while taking this medication. Common side effects may include headache, diarrhea, and upper respiratory tract infections, though it is generally well tolerated.
