Domperidone, a peripheral dopamine D2 receptor antagonist, enhances gastrointestinal motility by increasing the tone of the lower esophageal sphincter and accelerating gastric emptying, thereby reducing symptoms such as nausea, vomiting, and bloating. Esomeprazole, a proton pump inhibitor (PPI), selectively inhibits the H+/K+ ATPase enzyme system in the gastric parietal cells, leading to a significant and prolonged reduction in gastric acid secretion.
