Esontia Tablet contains Esomeprazole 40 mg, a proton pump inhibitor (PPI) used to reduce gastric acid secretion in the treatment of various acid-related gastrointestinal conditions. Esomeprazole works by selectively inhibiting the H+/K+ ATPase enzyme system located on the gastric parietal cells, thereby suppressing the final step of acid production. This medication is indicated for the management of gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD), erosive esophagitis, Zollinger-Ellison syndrome, and for the prevention and treatment of gastric ulcers associated with Helicobacter pylori infection when used in combination with appropriate antibiotics. Esontia Tablet is also effective in the treatment of nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID)-induced gastric ulcers and for the maintenance of healing of erosive esophagitis. The recommended dose is typically one 40 mg tablet once daily, taken before meals, but dosing may vary based on clinical condition and physician discretion. Esomeprazole is generally well tolerated; however, potential adverse effects include headache, diarrhea, nausea, abdominal pain, and dizziness. Long-term use should be monitored due to risks such as vitamin B12 deficiency and bone fractures. Esontia Tablet should be used under medical supervision, with caution advised in patients with hepatic impairment or known hypersensitivity to PPIs.
