Esomzole-DSR Capsule is a combination pharmaceutical formulation containing Domperidone 30 mg and Esomeprazole 40 mg, designed for the effective management of gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD), erosive esophagitis, and other acid-related gastrointestinal disorders. Esomeprazole, a proton pump inhibitor (PPI), acts by selectively inhibiting the H+/K+ ATPase enzyme system at the secretory surface of gastric parietal cells, thereby suppressing basal and stimulated gastric acid secretion. Domperidone, a peripheral dopamine D2 receptor antagonist, enhances gastrointestinal motility and accelerates gastric emptying, providing symptomatic relief from nausea, vomiting, and bloating associated with delayed gastric emptying. The dual action of Esomzole-DSR Capsule addresses both acid suppression and motility enhancement, improving patient outcomes in acid-peptic conditions. It is indicated for patients with persistent heartburn, acid regurgitation, and associated dyspeptic symptoms where monotherapy with either agent may be insufficient. The combination is generally well tolerated; however, caution is advised in patients with cardiac arrhythmias or prolonged QT interval due to Domperidone’s potential cardiac effects.
