Esomac 20 Tablet contains Esomeprazole 20 mg, a proton pump inhibitor (PPI) used primarily to reduce gastric acid secretion. It is indicated for the treatment of gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD), erosive esophagitis, Zollinger-Ellison syndrome, and for the prevention and treatment of gastric ulcers associated with Helicobacter pylori infection or nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID) use.

Esomeprazole works by selectively inhibiting the H+/K+ ATPase enzyme system at the secretory surface of gastric parietal cells, thereby suppressing the final step in acid production. This results in decreased gastric acidity, promoting healing of acid-related damage and alleviating symptoms such as heartburn and acid regurgitation. The recommended dosage for adults is typically one 20 mg tablet once daily, taken at least one hour before meals, with the duration of therapy depending on the specific condition being treated.
Esomac 20 is generally well-tolerated; however, potential side effects include headache, nausea, abdominal pain, diarrhea, and dizziness. Caution is advised in patients with hepatic impairment or those on concomitant medications metabolized via the cytochrome P450 system. Esomac 20 should be used under medical supervision to ensure appropriate diagnosis and monitoring of therapeutic response.
