Esomeprazole, a proton pump inhibitor (PPI), selectively inhibits the H+/K+ ATPase enzyme system at the secretory surface of gastric parietal cells, effectively suppressing gastric acid secretion. This dual-action capsule is indicated for the treatment of gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD), erosive esophagitis, and conditions requiring acid suppression combined with prokinetic activity.
The prolonged-release formulation ensures sustained therapeutic plasma levels, improving patient compliance and symptom control. Esoglaz-D Capsule PR should be administered as prescribed, typically once daily before meals, and is contraindicated in patients with known hypersensitivity to either component or in those with prolactin-releasing pituitary tumors. Caution is advised in patients with hepatic impairment or cardiac arrhythmias.
