Esmotone Tablet contains Esomeprazole 40 mg, a proton pump inhibitor (PPI) used to reduce gastric acid secretion by selectively inhibiting the H+/K+ ATPase enzyme system at the secretory surface of gastric parietal cells. It is indicated for the treatment of gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD), erosive esophagitis, Zollinger-Ellison syndrome, and for the prevention and treatment of gastric ulcers associated with Helicobacter pylori infection in combination with appropriate antibiotics. Esomeprazole is also employed in the management of conditions requiring sustained acid suppression such as Barrett’s esophagus and nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID)-induced gastropathy. The drug demonstrates a high bioavailability and a prolonged duration of action, allowing once-daily dosing. Esmotone Tablet should be administered orally, preferably before meals, to optimize therapeutic outcomes. Common adverse effects include headache, diarrhea, nausea, abdominal pain, and flatulence, which are generally mild and transient. Caution is advised in patients with hepatic impairment, and long-term use necessitates monitoring for potential risks such as vitamin B12 deficiency and bone fractures. Esmotone Tablet should be used under medical supervision with adherence to prescribed dosage to ensure efficacy and safety in acid-related gastrointestinal disorders.
