Fusidic Acid inhibits bacterial protein synthesis by interfering with the function of elongation factor G, thereby preventing bacterial growth.
Mometasone inhibits the release of pro-inflammatory cytokines and mediators, reducing inflammation and immune response.
Medical applications
Esm F Cream is a topical formulation containing Mometasone furoate (0.1% w/w), a potent corticosteroid, combined with Fusidic Acid (2% w/w), a bacteriostatic antibiotic. This combination is indicated for the treatment of inflammatory dermatoses complicated by or at risk of secondary bacterial infections, particularly those caused by susceptible strains of Staphylococcus aureus.
Mometasone exerts anti-inflammatory, antipruritic, and vasoconstrictive effects by inhibiting the release of inflammatory mediators, thereby reducing redness, swelling, and itching. Fusidic Acid acts by inhibiting bacterial protein synthesis, effectively targeting gram-positive bacteria, including methicillin-sensitive Staphylococcus aureus. Esm F Cream is typically applied once or twice daily to the affected area, with duration of therapy determined by clinical response and severity of the condition.
It is contraindicated in viral, fungal, or tubercular skin infections and should be used cautiously in patients with known hypersensitivity to any component. Prolonged use may lead to local adverse effects such as skin atrophy, telangiectasia, or secondary infections. Patients should avoid contact with eyes and mucous membranes. Esm F Cream offers a synergistic approach to managing inflammatory skin conditions complicated by bacterial infection, ensuring both symptom relief and microbial control.
