Eslicarbazepine acts by stabilizing hyperexcited neural membranes, inhibiting repetitive neuronal firing, and reducing synaptic propagation of excitatory impulses, primarily through blockade of voltage-gated sodium channels.

This mechanism helps to control seizure activity and improve neurological function. Eslizen is typically prescribed as adjunctive therapy in patients who have not achieved adequate seizure control with other antiepileptic drugs or as monotherapy in newly diagnosed partial epilepsy. The recommended dosage should be individualized based on clinical response and tolerability, with gradual titration to minimize adverse effects.
Common side effects may include dizziness, somnolence, headache, nausea, and fatigue, while serious adverse reactions are rare but can include hypersensitivity reactions, hyponatremia, and psychiatric symptoms. Caution is advised in patients with hepatic or renal impairment, and monitoring of serum sodium levels is recommended during treatment. Eslizen 400mg Tablet should be used under medical supervision, with regular follow-up to assess efficacy and safety.
