Esfung Eye Drop contains Fluconazole 0.3% w/v, an antifungal agent indicated for the treatment of fungal infections of the eye, including keratitis and conjunctivitis caused by susceptible fungal pathogens. Fluconazole is a triazole antifungal that exerts its effect by inhibiting the fungal cytochrome P450 enzyme 14α-demethylase, thereby disrupting ergosterol synthesis, an essential component of the fungal cell membrane. This disruption leads to increased membrane permeability and ultimately fungal cell death. Esfung Eye Drop is formulated for topical ocular use, providing targeted antifungal activity with minimal systemic absorption. It is recommended for use under the supervision of an ophthalmologist or healthcare professional experienced in managing fungal ocular infections. Dosage and duration of treatment should be individualized based on the severity of infection and clinical response, typically administered as one to two drops in the affected eye(s) two to three times daily. Patients should be advised to avoid contamination of the dropper tip and to discontinue use if hypersensitivity or adverse reactions occur. Esfung Eye Drop is contraindicated in patients with known hypersensitivity to fluconazole or any component of the formulation. Caution is advised in patients with hepatic impairment or concurrent use of other medications metabolized via the cytochrome P450 system.
