Esava Ointment contains Ketoconazole 2% w/w, an imidazole antifungal agent effective in the treatment of various superficial fungal infections. Ketoconazole acts by inhibiting the synthesis of ergosterol, an essential component of fungal cell membranes, thereby disrupting membrane integrity and leading to fungal cell death. Esava Ointment is indicated for the topical management of dermatophytosis, candidiasis, pityriasis versicolor, and seborrheic dermatitis. The ointment formulation ensures localized delivery of the active ingredient, minimizing systemic absorption and associated adverse effects. It is applied once or twice daily to the affected area after cleansing and drying the skin, with the duration of therapy typically ranging from 2 to 4 weeks depending on the severity and type of infection. Patients should be advised to avoid contact with eyes and mucous membranes and to discontinue use if irritation or hypersensitivity reactions occur. Esava Ointment is contraindicated in individuals with known hypersensitivity to ketoconazole or any of the formulation excipients. Caution is advised in patients with extensive skin lesions or impaired skin barrier function. This product should be stored at room temperature, protected from light and moisture, and kept out of reach of children.
