Epifine Cream contains Amorolfine 0.25% w/w, an antifungal agent primarily used for the topical treatment of superficial fungal infections of the skin and nails. Amorolfine belongs to the morpholine class of antifungals and exerts its effect by inhibiting fungal sterol biosynthesis, thereby disrupting the cell membrane integrity and leading to fungal cell death. Epifine Cream is indicated for the treatment of dermatophytosis, candidiasis, and other superficial mycoses, including onychomycosis affecting the fingernails and toenails. The cream formulation allows for effective penetration into the affected areas, providing targeted antifungal activity with minimal systemic absorption. It is generally well tolerated, with adverse effects limited to mild local irritation, erythema, or itching at the application site. Epifine Cream should be applied once or twice daily to the affected area after cleansing and drying the skin or nails. Treatment duration varies depending on the infection type and severity but typically ranges from 2 to 4 weeks for skin infections and up to 6 months for nail infections. Patients are advised to complete the full course of therapy to prevent recurrence.
